Ouch! That flag just broke my arm.

Lifeguard Suing over Gay Flags

To this lifeguard, I have a few things to say:

Paul writes to the Corinthians, “If any of you has a dispute with another, do you dare to take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the Lord’s people?”

In other words, your lawsuit may be with the wrong court.

Furthermore, I’d like to add another line from Paul, the self-avowed sinner who, in the first chapter of his letter to the Romans said that homosexuality is a sin (forgivable) not an abomination (unforgivable). Chapter 2 begins “You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things…So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?”

To summarize – If you, sir, are an Evangelical, you would then know that this isn’t a case for trial in civil courts. You would also know that you are trying to take on God’s job as judge, which is also a sin. I hope I’m not judging you, just extolling facts based on what is written in scripture. It’s a slippery slope.

On a side note: This is a lawsuit for money, which is condemned in Leviticus as the deadly sin of greed. But if I were to try to enforce every law in Leviticus, then a lot of people would go hungry every seven years, nobody would really own their real estate for more than 49 years, women would be shut away for weeks at a time, and churches would be filled with acrid smoke and soaked in animal blood. And the lifeguard might be condemned for wearing a cotton/spandex swimsuit. Oh, and I would be put to death for loving my husband. Interestingly, many Evangelicals feel the same way, but they still appear to enjoy cherry-picking their favorite abominations for enforcement while disregarding the others.
