About Me

“The most beautiful things are those that madness prompts and reason writes.” – Andre Gide, ‘The Immoralist’

Duncan MacLeod is an author, filmmaker and musician who was born and raised in Northern California. He is a graduate of Film and Italian from San Francisco State University and holds an MBA from USC. He lives in Southern California today, with his husband.

He is currently employed by Universal Pictures and has previously directed a feature length documentary about Mexican wrestling. In a past life he played autoharp in the post-punk folk band The Acres.

Duncan’s brush with the mental health system in California, following a psychotic episode, led him to start writing ‘5150‘ and the subsequent novels in ‘The Psychotic Break Series‘. In four roller coaster novels, Duncan introduces the character of Ethan Lloyd, a man who is invariably treading a fine line between the lucidity he craves and a lurking insanity. The books are all available through Amazon.

Duncan enjoys spending time with his husband and their wide circle of friends. He is fluent in four languages and conversant in three, which makes travel and meeting people much easier.

In the future Duncan would like to devote himself full-time to writing. He is currently working on ‘Jagniel’, the second book in the Agnes Series, which he aims to publish by early 2021.
